Jewish organizations from different religious backgrounds are appealing to Americans not to let anti-Muslim hatred grow due to Israel’s conflict with Hamas amid the killing of a 6-year-old Palestinian-American child in a Chicago suburb.

Jewish Council for Public Affairs, a national public policy organization, is the driving force behind a statement that includes umbrella organizations for the Reform, Conservative, and Reconstructionist movements. 2 Orthodox groups have also made declarations of their own.

The JCPA statement, which was endorsed by the American Jewish Committee, J Street, Hadassah, and the National Council of Jewish Women, among other organizations, stated: “This is an era of deep Jewish pain, sadness the lives implemented and offering prayers for the secure release of the captives in Gaza – and this sorrow and dread are made worse by a terrible spike in antisemitism here in the United States and across the globe.”
