You just had your COVID-19 shot, and you already feel awful. Although you are aware of its value, it sure doesn’t seem that way.
That is a typical response: According to a new study, 30–90% of COVID-19 vaccine recipients suffered some sort of adverse effect, which can emerge one to three days after receiving the shot.
Although unpleasant, side effects may be a great indication that your shot is beginning to protect you.
Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco discovered in a recently published pre-print (which means it hasn’t been peer-reviewed and shouldn’t be taken as final or conclusive) study that people who experience negative reactions from their vaccine, such as shivers, fever, tiredness, and/or headache, produce additional antibodies towards the virus than people who don’t (these antibodies can be identified at both 1 month and 6 months after immunization).
