Exxon spokesperson Emily Mir stated, “We are aware of the allegations and cannot comment on a personal matter; however, we can say that this individual will not continue work responsibilities as the investigation proceeds.” She emphasized the company’s commitment to high standards of integrity and conduct.

Earlier this year, David Scott was elevated to the role of senior vice president, overseeing all shale oil and gas activities. While Exxon is reportedly in advanced discussions about a potential merger with Pioneer Natural Resources, David Scott’s position as a senior vice president doesn’t necessarily involve direct participation in such negotiations. Scott is currently facing a second-degree felony assault charge and is being held on a $30,000 bond, with potential penalties ranging from two to twenty years of imprisonment for convictions of this nature in Texas.
