In response, Joey Steward, executive manager, asserted their commitment to maintaining LGBTQ+ safe spaces. Steward emphasized the continuity of staff and internal promotions as evidence of their dedication. Purdum addressed past political donations, stating they won’t compromise the venues’ inclusive nature. Nick Elkovitch, along with others, sought to support drag performers and the ACLU in response to a restrictive Tennessee law, but their proposal was rejected, citing concerns about other affiliated venues.

Tom Culbertson and Steven Alexander, patrons of Union Cafe, acknowledged the controversy but plan to continue visiting, acknowledging differing perspectives on the situation.
