Additionally, Wilyer Abreu, an outfielder for Boston, was taken off the paternity list. As a related action, the club optioned middle infielder David Hamilton to Triple-A Worcester.

There is still a reason to watch as the season comes to an end
Rafaela’s super-utility versatility enabled Boston to keep both of them on the roster, along with Abreu. This is incredibly exciting news because both guys have been racking for the WooSox and, should they succeed, may form the heart of a new youthful team.
Between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, Rafaela hit.302 with 54 extra-base hits, including 20 home runs, 79 RBIs, and an.869 OPS in 108 games. He has made 36 thefts on 49 tries and is regarded as a plus fielder in the infield and outfield who can defend with the Gold Glove.
In 86 games with Triple-A Worcester, Abreu hit.274 with 34 extra-base hits, including 22 home runs, 65 RBIs, and a.929 OPS. According to MLB Pipeline, the 24-year-old is the system’s No. 17 prospect.
Even if the Red Sox have little to no chance of making the postseason, there is still a reason to watch as the season comes to an end, reports from si.com.
