A 47-year-old former transit police officer named David S. Finnerty was arrested after filing a false report to cover up the assault incident involving a fellow officer, wherein the transit police officer included misleading statements and removed other important information to save his fellow officer.
According to a report published in Mass Live, the transit police officer attempted to cover up how fellow officer Dorston Bartlett, who was working under the supervision of the transit police officer, assaulted a homeless man identified as Anthony Watson.
During the investigation, the transit police officer was accused of omitting information about his fellow officer waking up the victim and beating him with a metal baton, leading to criticisms directed toward the transit police officer for tolerating police misconduct.

Former Transit Police Officer Will Face Up to 20 Years in Prison if Convicted of Filing False Report
Following the arrest, the former transit police officer pleaded not guilty to filing a false report after being accused of attempting to cover the assault committed by a fellow officer, CBS News reported.
The former transit police officer will possibly face up to 20 years in prison and be required to pay thousands of fines if convicted of filing a false report in an attempt to cover up police misconduct.
