The local job fair scene in Lexington took an extraordinary turn as an innovative event set a new standard

The initiative stemmed from Joel Leonard, a Lexington native, who initially shared insights on workforce development through columns in the local newspaper. As the series gained traction, Leonard transitioned into a local job fair coach and recruiter, engaging both employers and potential employees. This evolution spurred the idea of a large-scale local job fair.

Dubbed “Give Work a Chance,” the local job fair saw participation from approximately two dozen employers across Davidson County, collectively seeking to fill 350 positions. This significant presence underscored the demand for workers in various burgeoning industries across the region.

In addition to exploring job opportunities, relished the chance to network and savor delectable food in a relaxed atmosphere

Joel Leonard emphasized the importance of inclusivity, advocating for companies to cater to individuals with specific needs to facilitate comprehensive growth. This unconventional local job fair not only provided employment prospects but also showcased creative thinking in bridging the gap between job seekers and employers, offering a promising model for future events.
