An injury prevention agency lists residential care community and medical home direct care employees as having one of the top 5 most risky jobs in the United States.
Based on personal injury lawyer John Fitch of the Fitch Law Firm in Ohio, the position is a result of unexpected events at work that could cause harm or illness.
Based on the company’s website, discovered 10.3 injuries for every 100 thousand employees in the role, “there is a chance of injury and risk because of the characteristics of this extremely challenging business to engage in, with the amount of machinery needed for patient care and frequently working long hours with not much rest.”
The company examined the number of nonfatal accidents each 200 million hours labored, or 100,000 full-time workers who put in 40 hours each week over 50 weeks of the year. Jobs were deemed to be more dangerous if there had been higher injuries for every hour worked.
