JPS Bond Program Approved to Fund Four Clinics, But Only One Clinic Is Under Construction in Tarrant County
A $1.5 billion JPS bond program had been initially approved to fund four clinics to expand healthcare services to low-income residents, but only one is currently under construction in Tarrant County, wherein the JPS bond program would now fund one among four clinics proposed due to a lack of budget and resources.
With the JPS bond program being canceled, the health network failed to fulfill its promise of adding clinics and facilities for low-income residents, who were looking forward to having expanded and more affordable healthcare services as long as they qualified under the JPS bond program.
According to a report published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the four clinics approved were part of the JPS bond program; however, the plan was canceled following a lack of budget, resources, and high construction costs, supposedly to provide residents with better health facilities and services with the JPS bond program.
JPS Health Network Highly Criticized for Introducing JPS Bond Program Following Its Cancelation
Following the cancelation, the health network was highly criticized for proposing and introducing the JPS bond program to the public despite not considering the high cost, especially after the pandemic.
There are still possibilities that the health network would propose another plan to build additional clinics; however, it would not be funded through the initially proposed JPS bond program, Yahoo News reported.
