Ojai is hit by a 5.1-magnitude earthquake as Hurricane Hilary approaches Southern California

There have been and will continue to be earthquakes with magnitudes of at least 3.0.

On Sunday, an earthquake occurred in southern California when the area was experiencing a tropical storm brought on by Hurricane Hilary.

The 5.1-magnitude earthquake’s epicenter, based on the United States Geological Survey (USGS), was situated roughly eighty miles northwest of Los Angeles, 4 miles southeast of the city of Ojai.

The earthquake was estimated to be 14.6 km in depth and it occurred at 2:41 p.m. Several earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.0 and higher occurred. Based on the USGS, no places are anticipated to be harmed by liquefaction and landslides.

The earthquake, with a currently estimated magnitude of 5.0, was the subject of alerts from the National Emergency Notification System (ENS).
