A policeman in Denver shot and killed a man he believed was carrying a knife, although it was actually a marker pen

Authorities claimed on Monday that a Denver policeman accidentally shot an individual who was carrying a marker pen that he mistook for a weapon.

An officer can be seen firing 2 bullets at an individual who is standing on the sidewalk in the recently released body-camera video of 36-year-old Brandon Cole’s death on August 5. The man was being followed by a woman and a little child when the cop opened fire on him, causing him to fall to the ground.

According to authorities, Cole, his wife, and their teenage son may have engaged in domestic abuse, according to the Denver Post. Police officer Matt Clark stated that the neighbor claimed Cole had been “chasing after” his son and that the mother may have been forced out of her wheelchair.

The brief video that was made public on Monday reveals that when police showed up, the wife was seated next to a wheelchair and begged them not to shoot her husband.
