Authorities revealed this week that almost 100 individuals have been detained in Australia and the US for their involvement with a global web community of child abuse that was uncovered shortly after the high-profile killing of 2 FBI agents.
The numerous accusations of child abuse originate from the shooting deaths of 2 FBI special agents, Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger, who were killed in 2021 while carrying out a search warrant in Sunrise, Florida, on an individual thought to be connected to a case including violent crimes against kids.
Based on the Australian Federal Police, the murders of Alfin and Schwartzenberger, who were both experts in the investigation of crimes against kids, sparked a more extensive worldwide investigation into an illegal internet community whose users are allegedly sharing child abuse content on the dark web.
In a current press release, the agency claimed that 19 Australians, whose ages vary from 32 to 81, have been accused of allegedly participating in a “sophisticated” cyber network.
