Suspect killed by SWAT
In an article from ABC News, officers tracked the guy down to a Holiday Inn near Universal Orlando Resort in the city’s tourist district about seven hours later and evacuated hotel guests at 9 a.m.
The motel is around 8 miles from the location where the suspect, Daton Viel, shot the policemen.
Within the hotel, Viel refused to leave his room and fired rounds at officers, who returned fire.
Viel, 28, died as a consequence of his injuries sustained during the Saturday morning confrontation with a SWAT unit.
Smith stated on Saturday that Viel had a lengthy criminal record.
The Holiday Inn hotel is a few blocks from the Amway Center, home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
