Imani Roberson, 30, left her mother’s house after dinner on July 16, the last time either woman saw each other. Deputies in Rockdale County, Georgia, have now accused her husband, Donell Anderson, of her disappearance and murder.
Anderson was arrested on murder charges Friday night, according to Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett, who spoke at a press conference on Saturday. The probe is still going on. Levett predicted another arrest, but he gave no information about any additional suspects for the disappearance and death of the missing mom.
“It’s not the news we wanted, but I’m happy we can hold them accountable,” Ronald Acklin, the missing mom’s father, said, his voice breaking with anguish.
The Dinner
That July 16, Roberson had dinner with her four children and her mother, Clarine Andujar-White. The missing mom brought her 1-month-old and 3-year-old children home while the two older children stayed behind.
She and Andujar-White interacted on a daily basis, therefore it was uncommon when the missing mom did not contact her mother to check on the elder children, according to the sheriff.
The next day, Andujar-White went to her daughter’s house. She reported Roberson missing because no one was there.
The two younger children were later found safe, but authorities have not said where or when they were found.
The missing mom’s car, a white Mazda SUV, was found 30 miles from where she was last seen earlier this week. According to WSB, the car was completely destroyed and there was no trace of the missing mom.
According to the station, investigators issued a search warrant at the missing mom’s residence and discovered blood.
According to the sheriff, authorities eventually uncovered an unidentified body that they assume is Roberson because it matches the missing mom’s description, including her tattoos. Police have not said where the body was discovered or how the man died.
Anderson was apprehended by police on Friday at an apartment in Atlanta, reportedly with the assistance of a SWAT squad. According to the sheriff, he is charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Levett informed reporters that more charges could be filed.
He urged anyone with information about the case to be compassionate toward the family and come forward. The sheriff warned anyone who concealed information that they could face consequences for their silence.
According to Levett, Roberson’s four children will be looked for by her parents.
“My worst fears were confirmed last night, and our family is devastated; being here today is extremely difficult for us,” Andujar-White said at the press conference.
