Under an income guarantee pilot program, the town of Long Beach in California is giving money to economically disadvantaged families. Transfers will be made within 12 days.
The Long Beach Pledge, established by the Long Beach Recovery Act, accepted applicants this past year and offered 250 families residing in the west-central 90813 ZIP code of the city $500 every month for a year.
The Fund for Guaranteed Income informed the Washington Examiner that payments would be made on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. According to poverty statistics and the pandemic’s consequences, this region was chosen to get the cash since it had the greatest need.
Candidates have to belong to a family with just one wage earner who has fallen under the federal poverty threshold by 100%.
The city’s program for financial and health-related projects received 2,700 applications before the application deadline this past month, based on the Long Beach Post.
