People in Michigan getting aid for food who had food spoil this past week throughout the southeast Michigan electrical blackout might be eligible to reclaim these advantages.
The previous week’s thunderstorms caused hundreds to lose electricity. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) allows citizens who participate to request replacements for food that spoils due to power outages and receive reimbursements, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The application period ends on Monday.
Reimbursements don’t apply to Pandemic-EBT benefits and only become available to SNAP participants. As per an announcement, the amount individuals may get back depends on how many meals the family lost and how much assistance they are eligible for each month.
