Robert Chambers, Infamous ‘Preppy Killer,’ Released on Parole After 15 Years on Drug Charges

Robert Chambers was set free from New York’s Shawangunk Correctional Facility earlier this week, having completed 15 years of a 19-year sentence for running a drug operation involving cocaine and heroin from his Manhattan apartment.

Robert Chambers, infamously known as the “Preppy Killer” for his involvement in the 1986 Central Park slaying of Jennifer Levin, has been released on parole after serving 15 years in prison on drug-related charges

However, the media outlet states that Robert Chambers’ current whereabouts are unknown, with no immediate response from his listed relatives. According to official records, Robert Chambers will remain on parole until 2028. The “Preppy Killer” first gained notoriety for the Central Park murder, for which Robert Chambers pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a five to 15-year prison sentence. After serving the maximum term, he was released in 2003.

Robert Chambers’ encounter with the law was far from over, as he returned to prison in 2008 after being convicted on a misdemeanor drug charge, leading to a 90-day sentence

Subsequently, authorities uncovered his involvement in a drug trafficking operation with his girlfriend from their Manhattan residence, leading to his return to prison that same year.

The release of Robert Chambers after 15 years on drug-related charges has sparked interest and concern in the public, given his past history and notoriety for the Central Park slaying. Authorities will closely monitor his parole until its expiration in 2028.
