Martin O’Malley, a former governor of Maryland, was selected by President Joe Biden on Wednesday to oversee the Social Security Administration.
If elected, O’Malley will manage one of the largest social programs in the country while balancing financing difficulties. Around 70 million individuals get Social Security payments, including pensioners, the disabled, and kids.
In a statement, Biden praised O’Malley as a “lifelong government servant” who has “passed his career increasing government accessibility and transparency, yet maintaining the American people at the center of his work.” “As Governor, he improved how billions of people received essential services by making government function more efficiently throughout his administration.”
Between 2007 to 2015, O’Malley ruled as governor of Maryland. He also served 2 years as mayor of Baltimore. In 2016, he also ran for president as a Democratic candidate, but he won’t be doing it again.
