Houston-based social media influencer Tierra Allen, widely known as the Sassy Trucker, finds herself trapped in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following a distressing incident with a Dubai car rental company
According to Radha Stirling, CEO and founder of Detained in Dubai, an international nonprofit organization advocating for Tierra Allen’s release, Tierra Allen was accused of “shouting” in public during the confrontation, which is considered “offensive behavior” under UAE’s laws. Although released on bail the same day, her passport remains confiscated, restricting her from leaving the country.
Stirling disclosed that Tierra Allen’s situation was brought to the attention of the U.S. Embassy in Dubai, but no substantial assistance has been provided thus far due to recent staffing changes. The U.S. Department of State stated they are in contact with Tierra Allen and her family, assuring that appropriate aid is being extended. Detained in Dubai also engaged the support of Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee from Texas’ 18th congressional district, both actively working towards securing her safe return.
The incident with the rental agency appears to be part of a common scam, with the agency allegedly offering to drop the charges in exchange for approximately $5,700
Stirling emphasized that such blackmail practices are detrimental to the UAE’s tourism and investment sectors and called for stricter measures against this abuse.
As Tierra Allen and her mother continue to endure uncertainty and distress, their supporters are pushing for a resolution, hoping to reunite the influencer with her family soon. Tierra Allen’s social media accounts have been dormant since the arrest, reflecting the seriousness of the situation and the urgent need for her release.
