PORT ANGELES — Just before 2 p.m., three cars collided with a building on the corner of Front and Lincoln Streets. For almost an hour and a half on Wednesday, traffic entering downtown Port Angeles was redirected to Peabody Street.
Two of the three automobiles collided with Delaney’s Restaurant and Lounge, which had been closed for a number of years.
At least one person was sent to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles with injuries.
The person was not identified by police. Neither were the others involved in the crash.
According to Sgt. Clay Rife of Port Angeles Police, the two vehicles were turning onto Lincoln Street from Front Street when the accelerator in a black Lexus became stuck. The driver collided with a yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser, throwing both vehicles into the structure.
The third vehicle, a red Jeep Wrangler, was crossing Lincoln and Front streets when it collided with one of the others.
Rife stated around 2:15 p.m. Police were still piecing together the circumstances of the car collision in Port Angeles on Wednesday and couldn’t say whose car hit the Jeep at the time.
At 3:30 p.m., Front Street and the bottom of Lincoln Street in Port Angeles reopened to traffic.
Collisions in Port Angeles should serve as a warning for many drivers to put extra cautious when driving to avoid unnecessary incidents and prevent costing a life.
