A UC Berkeley student with almost $8,000 in student loans stated that she was not disappointed after learning that Biden’s debt relief plan was rejected as the UC Berkeley student believed that the plan would harm the student loan borrowers instead of providing relief.
According to the UC Berkeley student, canceling portions of the student debt will only add to the current inflation in the country, including the cost of tuition fees in different colleges and universities as the UC Berkeley student claimed that the administration has failed to present the plan’s disadvantages.
The UC Berkeley student stated that student debt relief would only allow colleges and universities to have high tuition fees because students would not demand lower tuition fees as long as they would receive debt relief, which had the UC Berkeley student disagree with the student loan forgiveness plan.
UC Berkeley Student Claims Offering Free Education to Some Students Will Help More Than Student Debt Relief Plan
Following the disapproval of the debt relief plan, the UC Berkeley student claimed that instead of pushing the student debt relief plan, the current administration should focus on offering students free education even for only two years.
With free education across the country, the UC Berkeley student believed that more students would have the means of finishing their studies amidst the high cost of living and other economic struggles, GV Wire reported.
