Former Police Officer Convicted After Beating Man to Death Aims to Have His Conviction Overturned

Anthony Fox, a 38-year-old former police officer convicted after fatally beating a 62-year-old man named George Robinson during a police search, asked to have the conviction overturned together with his defense team, claiming that the former police officer convicted did not kill the victim.

The former police officer convicted was accused of striking the victim in his head and chest while the former police officer convicted and three others were on a search for a suspect in a murder case they were investigating, wherein the beating later caused health complications to the victim and eventually resulted in his death due to the injuries sustained from the beating of the former police officer convicted.

Following the tragic incident, the former police officer convicted was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and 15 years of suspension in a jury trial after fatally beating the victim, who had nothing to do with the case the former police officer convicted had been investigating during the incident.

Overturning Conviction of Former Police Officer Convicted Receives Criticism from Individuals

With the appeal of the former police officer convicted to have his conviction overturned, many individuals expressed their opposition and criticized the defense team for questioning what the jury had decided, AP News reported.

Critics claimed that the defense team’s job was only to defend the former police officer convicted and present evidence to have his sentence lower and not take action on overturning the verdict of the former police officer convicted.
