There is currently time for almost 1.5 million Americans to receive their unclaimed 2019 tax refunds, valued at a median of $893. But there isn’t much longer to accomplish it.
For the 2019 tax year, the Internal Revenue Service reported that it is holding nearly $1.5 billion in unpaid tax refunds. Refunds that are due to taxpayers can be claimed 3 years after the first filing date. The last day to apply for these returns is July 17 of the current year since the IRS pushed the last day to file 2019 tax returns to July 17, 2020, due to the epidemic.
The US Treasury is going to be the owner of the funds if people fail to file their 2019 tax forms to recover their unpaid refunds.
According to IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel, those who are due a tax refund in 2019 have a limited amount of time. “The final opportunity for taxpayers who failed to file their tax returns for 2019 to obtain their refund expires on July 17.
