New NYC Minimum Wage Law for Delivery Service Workers Receives Criticism and Faces Lawsuit Following Possible Impacts

Following the announcement of the new NYC minimum wage law for food delivery service workers, many individuals and groups expressed their opposition to the NYC minimum wage law changes and claimed that it would only negatively affect and hurt delivery workers.

With the new NYC minimum wage law, food delivery services, including Grubhub, Uber Eats, and DoorDash, filed a lawsuit against the state to prevent the implementation of the NYC minimum wage law as they know that the rules in increasing the minimum wage would hurt consumers and delivery workers over time.

The food delivery services also claimed that the NYC minimum wage law proved that New York City assumed delivery workers would not be affected by the new rules, AP News reported.
