The DHHR West Virginia announced the start of applications to avail of the Emergency Low Income Energy Assistance Program

Last Monday to June 30, 2023, or until allocated funds are exhausted, the funded program will assist qualified state residents in paying energy bills.

The DHHR West Virginia announced that people whose primary energy source is electricity or gas must provide their notice when applying for Emergency Low Income Energy Assistance Program. Those using other primary energy sources may qualify for program assistance if their energy fuel is at a low level during the time of application. Failure to submit verification of payment may affect the assistance program application.

Eligibility for LIEAP benefits is based on income and household size. The DHHR West Virginia reminded us that the income limit for the fiscal year 2023 is 60%. In these situations where an energy emergency exists, resident applicants must be met by a DHHR worker.
