College Students Expect to Lose SNAP Benefits Following the Reimposition of Work Requirements After Pandemic
Millions of college students expect to lose their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits following the reimposition of work requirements after they loosened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to reports from The Washington Post, the reimposition of stricter work requirements will make it more difficult for college students, especially from low-income families, to finish their degrees as they need the SNAP benefits to meet their basic needs.
With the stricter work requirements for SNAP, some college students lose their coverage after not meeting the 20 working hours required to be eligible for the benefits, hurting millions of students rather than providing relief.

Stricter Work Requirements for SNAP Benefits Receive Criticism from Advocates
Following the reimposition of stricter work requirements for SNAP benefits, advocates expressed their opposition and claimed that it would make getting a degree harder for college students who need financial assistance for their school fees and other expenses.
Fortunately, other lawmakers immediately worked on expanding SNAP eligibility amidst the increasing number of college students who had already lost their eligibility by reintroducing a bill to remove the work requirements for eligible college students.
