Democrats Urge Congress to Pass Bill to Stop Illegal Evictions and Provide Relief to Evictees Following Eviction Filings Increase

Following the increase in eviction filings, Democrats urged Congress to pass a bill that would lessen the illegal evictions and provide relief to some evictees due to the increasing rate of homelessness in several cities.

According to PBS reports, eviction filings have been raising due to the increasing rents and house prices in several cities after the pandemic ended, which led to some residents not having access to affordable housing.

Due to increasing rents and house prices in several cities, low-income renters had difficulty paying their rents and accessing houses to focus on meeting their other basic needs, including food, which led to an increase in eviction filings.
