The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office announced that Clarence “Bud” Sheppard was found deceased inside his home in January 2018 after friends raised concerns about his well-being.

An elderly man’s suspicious death has been ruled a homicide, leading to the arrest of a woman

Deputies and West Virginia State Police conducted a welfare check following the friends’ report, and the subsequent investigation by the authorities determined that Sheppard’s death was the result of foul play, although the exact cause was not disclosed by the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives interviewed multiple individuals, including Autumn McNeely. However, it wasn’t until Wednesday, June 14, that officials had a breakthrough. During a recent interview with McNeely, new evidence emerged allegedly linking her to the death of Clarence Sheppard.

The authorities arrested McNeely on a charge of first-degree murder

Following her arrest, McNeely appeared before a Greenbrier County Magistrate and was arraigned. She is currently being held without bond in the Southern Regional Jail pending further legal proceedings.

The arrest of Autumn McNeely marks a significant development in the case, shedding light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding Clarence Sheppard’s death. The investigation into this tragic incident continues, as law enforcement officials work diligently to gather more evidence and bring justice to the victim and his loved ones.
