Following a truck got fire underneath the roadway, the northbound Interstate 95 lanes in Philadelphia completely fell, according to officials.
In a message sent out early on Sunday, Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management reported that a “fire/road fall” involving the Woodhaven and Aramingo exits had shut down every lane of the highway in each direction.
The agency stated, “Other roads are blocked for the action.” Skip the region. Plan your journey and look for alternatives.”
All routes in the region were restricted because of a “large fire,” the agency stated early on Sunday.
” Because of a significant fire, all lanes of I-95 in the two directions are closed next to the Cottman Avenue exit. Smoke can be seen. Avoid disruptions and avoid using 1-95 as it approaches Northeast Philadelphia, the office stated.
According to 6ABC News, a tanker’s fire under an I-95 flyover expanded to the I-95 lanes above, forcing the Tacony section of northeast Philadelphia’s freeway to fully collapse.
