Sgt. Cory Maynard, state police, was killed in the shooting. West Virginia Governor Jim Justice said he was heartbroken about what happened to Sgt. Maynard. He and his wife extended their condolences to the police officer’s family.

Justice ordered all flags in West Virginia to be flown at half-staff in giving the honor of Maynard

Timothy Kennedy, suspect of shooting Sgt. Cory Maynard was taken into police custody following an intensified search.
