President Biden signed an executive order that directed government agencies to take numerous actions to help military spouses to have steady jobs despite frequent moves, time apart for training programs, and care for an injured veteran or in-service.

The military personnel questioned how long they serve their nation when their military spouses are unhappy or unfulfilled.

The executive order aims to aid the more than 16,000 military, veteran, and surviving military spouses working in the government.

The executive order directs nearly 20 actions that aim to enhance career stability and expand the employment capabilities of military spouses

Those included are the following:

1. Creation of180 days plan to improve the hiring of military spouses working for federal government agencies.
2. Increasing federal authority to hire certain military spouses without using traditional competitive procedures.
3. Making remote work options more accessible to spouses stationed overseas.
4. Requiring the Defense Department to implement by the end of the year flexible spending accounts service members can use to help defray the cost of child care.
5. Encouraging federal employees to grant up to five days of administrative leave for a permanent change of station.
6. Directing the Small Business Administration to develop resources for spouses needed to relocate a business.
7. Continuing employment support for military spouses transitioning out of the military.
