Following the success of its pilot program, the new guaranteed income program called “Rise Up Cambridge: Cash Payments for Families with Kids” will provide relief to several eligible low-income families in Cambridge for 18 months.

The new guaranteed income program will aim to fight the increasing rates of poverty cases in the city by providing $500 monthly payments under the $22 million budget to make the program permanent for eligible low-income families.

According to WBUR reports, the new guaranteed income program will also seek to reach eligible low-income families who need financial assistance but never receive direct payments from other relief programs.
