A Phoenix man was sentenced to death for killing two young Phoenix women

A Phoenix man was guilty of attacking and stabbing two young women in separate crimes in the early 1990s. The man was sentenced to death by a juror last Wednesday.

Bryan Patrick Miller waived his right to a jury trial. Judge Suzanne Cohen of Maricopa County Superior Court found him guilty of killing 17-year-old Melanie Bernas in September 1993 and Angela Brosso in November 1992 on the evening of her 22nd birthday.

Bryan Patrick Miller was later sentenced to death.

The man who was sentenced to death took many years to be mentally competent to stand trial

DNA evidence of Miller was collected in the aftermath of both murder crimes.

Bryan Patrick Miller’s defense lawyer pleaded mercy for his client and requested to give him life in prison. But the prosecutor believed he deserved the penalty of being sentenced to death after brutally killing the two innocent young women.
