The Supreme Court will decide whether or not to uphold President Biden’s student debt reduction plan after he rejected a bill that might have repealed it.
Biden stated in a tweet on Wednesday that “Congressional Republicans lead an attempt to approve a bill obstructing my Administration’s plan to offer up to $20,000 in student debt relief for low-income and middle-class Americans.” “I won’t give up on supporting decent people who work hard.”
To be quite clear, Biden stated, “I will not regret and never apologize for assisting working- and middle-class Americans heal from this terrible condition.
Republicans have been attacking the president’s plan because he initially introduced it, which might affect 40 million borrowers by forgiving $10,000 in loans for those earning a maximum of $125,000 a year and $20,000 in loans for those receiving Pell Grants.
To overturn Biden’s veto, either the House or the Senate might need to vote with a two-thirds majority, something Biden’s enemies are unable to do.
