Five individuals suspected of involvement in the Memorial Day shooting that left nine people injured near Hollywood Beach Broadwalk in South Florida have been apprehended

Among the suspects arrested are two individuals under the age of 18. An 18-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old boy have been charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, eight counts of second-degree attempted murder, and one count of carrying a concealed firearm, according to law enforcement officials.

These three new arrests supplement the two individuals who were apprehended immediately following the shooting. On May 29, the shooting occurred, causing panic among people strolling along the palm-tree-lined walkway adjacent to the beach. Footage of the incident captured individuals seeking safety in the nearby sand as officers arrived at the scene.

Witnesses informed the police that two large groups had engaged in an argument, leading one group to open fire on the other, as stated in a police affidavit

The document further revealed that members of one group “produced firearms and began firing indiscriminately not only at group 2 but as well as in the direction of the innocent bystanders who were subsequently caught in the crossfire.” Two of the injured individuals were affiliated with one of the groups, with one person sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and the other being shot in the right calf, as indicated in the affidavit.

Authorities confirmed that the remaining seven victims were innocent bystanders. As of Monday, eight of the nine injured victims have been discharged from the hospital, while one remains in stable condition, according to Hollywood Police Chief Chris O’Brien during a press conference.
