Third Suspect Arrested for the Death of Run-DMC Star Decades Later
The third suspect arrested was identified as Jay Bryant, a 49-year-old man who was charged with the death of Jason “Jay” Mizell, famously known as Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC, in 2002.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that the third suspected arrested was involved in fatally shooting the Run-DMC star in the head inside his studio with the other two suspects named Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr.
The third suspect arrested with the other two suspects immediately fled from the scene after shooting the Run-DMC star, but the DNA of the third suspect arrested was found at the location of the shooting incident.

Third suspect arrested after fatally shooting Run-DMC star Jam Master Jay faced other charges, including drug-related charges, AP News reported.
Following the death of the Run-DMC star, authorities had difficulty finding the whereabouts of the third suspect arrested and the two other suspects who were previously sentenced in 2020.
According to authorities, several witnesses didn’t come forward despite the reward money offered, which led to the case lingering too long.
