The grand jury has indicted Oldrati, charging him with manslaughter in relation to the death of Charles Sharp III

The incident took place on September 14, 2021, when Sharp dialed 911 to report a burglary. Upon the arrival of two officers at Sharp’s residence, authorities assert that Sharp was in his front yard conversing with the emergency dispatcher. It is alleged that during this time, one of the officers shouted a warning that Sharp possessed a firearm. In response to the perceived threat, Officer Oldrati discharged his service weapon, striking Sharp multiple times.

Sharp was promptly transported to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries

The circumstances surrounding the incident have prompted an extensive investigation into the events leading to the use of lethal force. If found guilty, Officer Salvatore Oldrati could potentially face a maximum prison sentence of ten years.

The indictment signifies that the grand jury has determined that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial on the charge of manslaughter against the accused police officer. The legal proceedings will now move forward, with the objective of establishing accountability and determining the appropriate course of justice in this tragic case.
