On Sunday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz came under fire from the daughter of the deceased civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as he sought to use Dr. King’s legacy to criticize the contemporary anti-racism movement.

In a personal tweet criticizing the NAACP, among America’s earliest and most well-known anti-racist organizations, Mr. Cruz mentioned Dr. King by name. The Florida far-right change according to Governor Ron DeSantis, in specific attempts to restrict what he declares “woke” lessons in schools, which many scholars on the subject claim are actually for eliminating principles regarding the battle for civil rights and equality between races in America, developed criticism from the Texas Republican after the group announced a “travel advisory” alert.

The NAACP board voted unanimously to approve the advice.

“African Americans, persons of color, and LGBTQ+ citizens face open hostility in Florida. The state of Florida neglects and reduces the achievements of and difficulties experienced by African Americans and various groups of color, the advice warns before visitors.
