An Inmate In Fulton County Jail In Georgia That Died Last Year Was Not Because Of Bugs Ate Him Allegedly, But Because Of Severe Neglect, Untreated Schizophrenia, Dehydration, Malnourishment And Severe Body Insect Infestation.

Dr. Roger Mitchell is the coroner that conducted autopsy on the body of Lashawn Thompson who allegedly died because of insect/bugs ate him to death. It was found out that Thompson died due to severe dehydration, schizophrenia, malnourishment, neglect and insect infestation in his body, Mitchell concluded it is homicide. It was the extreme neglect of Fulton County Jail that cause the death of Thompson.

Ben Crump, the attorney that handled the Thompson case said that the victim’s family will file a lawsuit against the county jail. He further stated that the staff’s “inaction, cruelty, and inhumanity” is what killed Thompson. He was transferred to the psychiatric wing after finding he had schizophrenia. He shared several Photos of Thompson’s situations while inside the facility. The jail official discovered that Thompson was rotting away eaten by bugs after staying in the filthy cell for three months.

Harper’s Law Office also revealed that even after discovering Thompson’s ill-fated situation, the Jail Official and staff did not nothing to aid him, they just watched him die and blame it to the bugs. There just a plan on transferring Thompson but with no action until he died. The county Jail announce in April that they will transfer 600 inmates after the Thompson Incident.

It’s not new that the county’s facility is not safe even to inmates, they are prone to acquire diseases due to the rotting environment of the facility thus they are having a hard time providing a clean, well-maintained environment for the inmates. Thompson’s case has been an eye opener as it was publicized. investigation is still on going to the county jail.
