Borough Officials Approve For The Real Property Valuation And A Three Year Local Senior Tax Relief Program. Real Properties Will Be Assessed And Be Given Rightful Gradual Increase In Tax For The Past Three Years.
Real properties in Borough will undergo assessments and valuation, after official approved its motion. Assessor Shelby Jackson is required to increase the taxes of real properties step by step with a list of over three years. The senior tax relief program was also approved. The grand list, there is a 40% increase, and after two years the increase will 35% and 25% respectively.
Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess said that they will help the people who need it the most and protect the most vulnerable and to limit the impact of the affected citizens by giving them 75% level in the second year. The Board of Mayor and Burgesses instructed the assessors to finish the senior homeowners tax relief program within the three years’ timeframe, that would produce $600, $300 and $150 in year one to three respectively.
