Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., arrived at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing a single day after arriving in Washington after her lengthy medical leave about an hour and a half later.
Feinstein came to the city on Wednesday after spending months staying at a house in California and absent from her senate responsibilities in Washington. However, she did not appear for several votes that day or for the majority of important nomination hearings on Thursday. According to Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., she was supposed to come shortly, but the senators had to wait for much more than an hour.
When Feinstein arrived late, Durbin greeted her by saying, “I wish to bring back our friend, Sen. Dianne Feinstein.”
A caught of applause from senators and employees welcomed Feinstein again to the committee, and many guests stood cheering. The committee was able to vote on several of President Biden’s most difficult judicial appointments as a result of her appearance.
