Among California’s many universal basic incomes (UBI) plans include payments.

The initiative was developed in partnership with the Coachella Valley non-profits Queer Works and DAP Health having the intention of assisting persons in Palm Springs who are affected by racial and sexual injustice.

On May 15, the initial payout will be made, and subsequent payments will be made over the following few months.

All participants have to accept to take part in a study that will involve completing surveys regularly.

Eligibility

When the program’s application period began in March, 30 candidates were chosen randomly.

A family’s earnings may not exceed 30% of Riverside County’s median earnings, or fewer than $16,600 for a single individual, to qualify for the payment scheme.

Many communities have implemented comparable initiatives to assist individuals who are short on money.

125 homes in El Monte were chosen at random to take part in a UBI program paying $500 every month over an entire year.

A debit card that can be automatically recharged each month would be utilized for sending the payments.

The scheme will assist those with low earnings who were negatively affected financially by the pandemic.
