A broadcast reporter named Austin Goss was arrested after using the phone number of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem in a prank call he made.

The broadcast reporter pleaded guilty to the charge filed against him for using the South Dakota governor’s personal phone number in a pre-recorded prank call sent to Dan Lederman, the former chairman of the state’s Republican Party.

After the broadcast reporter’s misdemeanor acts reached his workplace, the Dakota News Now immediately acted upon this matter and fired Goss as the Capitol bureau reporter, AP News reported.

Broadcast Reporter Faces Charge After Using South Dakota Governor’s Phone Number In A “Practical Joke”

Despite claiming that the prank call was only a “practical joke” between Goss and his friend, the broadcast reporter was charged with a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and sentenced to one year in prison and $2,000 in fines.

The broadcast reporter declined to give a statement about the prank call or the charges he faced while the South Dakota governor remained silent about the incident.
