The choice by federal attorneys regarding whether to accuse Joe Biden’s son Hunter of tax fraud and misleading regarding his drug usage when he purchased a firearm is approaching, and the White House is preparing for potential political repercussions.

Hunter’s attorneys met with David Weiss, the senior federal prosecutor in Delaware, the previous month at the justice department in Washington, suggesting that the inquiry is almost finished, according to the Washington Post. Hunter’s longtime attorney Chris Clark was one of those approaching the agency offices, according to a different CNN source.

Republicans will undoubtedly take advantage of a high-profile criminal prosecution over Hunter, 53, in a bid to harm the US president’s political position after his announcement this past week that he will run for re-election in 2024.

Assaults on Hunter and his suspected laptop during the 2020 campaign collapsed, but the 53-year-old is playing a more prominent role on his father’s side. He recently visited the Republic of Ireland and attended a state dinner honoring French President Emmanuel Macron. He also attended the Kennedy Center Honors.
