Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers to file now

Taxpayers who missed the income tax filing deadline last April 18 and didn’t request an extension should file as soon as possible to limit interest and penalties. The Internal Revenue Service said.

For taxpayers struggling to pay their taxes and unable to pay their tax bills on the income tax filing deadline, IRS will help and give options to them.

The Internal Revenue Service reminded taxpayers entitled to a refund won’t be penalized. Those payers should not forget to file on the deadline unless they want to donate their money to IRS.

File and Pay as soon as you can to reduce penalties and interest

Taxpayers should file an income tax filing deadline to pay the taxes they owe as quickly as possible to avoid interest and penalties. An extension of the file income tax filing deadline is not an extension to pay. An extension to file will give taxpayers additional months for the new income tax filing deadline on October 16, 2023.

Taxpayers must file and pay as soon as possible because late filing and late paying penalties could add up swiftly.
