Union Local 777 and employees at 5 separate marijuana retailers in Illinois have reportedly signed a temporary deal. Verilife, a division of PharmaCann, is the exclusive owner of each.
At Verilife shops in the Chicago suburbs of Arlington Heights, Ottawa, Romeoville, and Rosemont, the labor negotiating deal includes over 100 employees.
“This is an excellent instance of how workers working with us, we interact beneficially, and it helps the employees, the business, and the consumer,” said Jim Glimco, President of Local 777. Greetings to everyone on the negotiation committee who fought extremely hard to obtain such a fantastic agreement.”
More than 80 marijuana transporters employed at Eaze in San Jose have been organized in California by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 5. This deal makes UFCW Local 5 the 5th Eaze depot to be unionized in the previous 12 months. In 2020, employees of Stachs, a division of Ease, joined the UFCW.
In the Bay Area, the UFCW Local 5 currently represents about 1,000 cannabis employees.
