A Mother Is Convicted For 27 Years In Prison After Leaving Newborn Son To Die At Mississippi River.

Jennifer Matter admitted that she left her newborn baby in 2003 at the Mississippi river to die. She pleaded guilty in January but was not arrested until a DNA was conducted and the result connected to her. Another baby girl was found in the same spot but matter was not yet charged.

Newborn babies left at Mississippi River

CBS Minnesota put out that Jennifer Matter who is responsible for leaving a newborn baby at the Mississippi river to die 20 years ago, pleaded guilty and convicted for 27 years for committing a second degree murder. A DNA was conducted that eventually linked to Matter and was arrested in May 10, 2022. Her DNA also linked to a newborn baby girl that was left in the same spot in 1999 but she was not yet charged.

DNA is with utmost importance to break a case like this, to immediately identify who is responsible for such act. Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans said that cases like this should not be left out because there are scientific ways to help solved it.

In December 7, 2003 teenagers found the baby girl on the shore of Lake Pipen. The biological father of the girl was identified and again connected to matter. She further said that the 2nd baby, she was not sure because she was hiding at the time in Frontenac public beach when she labored, and said that the baby was fine when she left it.

She was interviewed but denied and said doesn’t know anything. Eventually she told investigators that in 1999 she was not in a good place and didn’t know she was pregnant until she found herself bleeding while dropping off two kids at school.  That baby was not breathing when she gave birth that prompt her wrap it up and after a day she left the baby at the Baypoint Park.
