Federal Judge Greg Guidry recuses from New Orleans Roman Catholic bankruptcy case

The Federal Judge in charge of the New Orleans Roman Catholic bankruptcy case decided to recuse himself from the case after a press report showing that he donated money to the archdiocese. The Federal Judge also ruled decisions in favor of the Catholic church. The New Orleans Roman Catholic bankruptcy case concerns almost 500 priesthood sex abuse victims.

Federal Judge Greg Guidry primarily announced he would stay on the Catholic Bankruptcy case because he is impartial. The Federal Judge changed his decision on Friday amid persistent questions and pressure after the press report.

Federal Judge Greg Guidry has supervised the 3-year-old Catholic bankruptcy case in an appellate role. The Judge’s Recusal from the bankruptcy case will result in new hearings and appeals of every ruling he made.
