Serial Killer John Arthur Gertreu Was Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Killing A Stanford Law Librarian In 1973 And Janet Taylor, a Stanford graduate and Daughter Of The University Football Coach, Who Was Both Then 21 Years Old. The was a 13 Months Interval of both the Attack In 1973 And 1974 respectively.

John Arthur Getreu, a serial killer was sentenced for another life imprisonment in murdering a Stanford librarian and an alumnae, the then 21 years old Leslie Perlov and Janet Taylor in 1973 and 1974 respectively. Both were strangled to death by suspect which became known as “The Stanford Murder,” will not be granted parole until 2031.
He then pleads guilty in killing Perlov. After 40 years in hiding, he was found in his home living with his wife in Hayward, California. Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said that the nightmare brought by Gertreu will be finally put to rest and the family can finally have peace knowing that the person responsible for the lifelong misery if now behind bars.

The Victims who fell into the hands of the serial killer
On February 16, 1973, Perlov’s body was found on the hills of Stanford with a scarf wrapped around her neck. Decades went by, but in 2018 a case was finally imposed after criminalists with the Santa Clara DA’s office found his DNA in the victim’s fingernails. He was also associated with multiple sexual assaults and has been convicted in Germany in 1963 after sexually abusing and murdering a 16 year old girl.
His repeated sexual abuse on his stepdaughter in 1970 to 1977 and with a 17 year old girl whom he also raped while volunteering at a youth program became known during his trial on the case of Taylor. His DNA was already added into the Federal Database to compare with DNA’s from unsolved murder cases.
