The patients also incurred bruises and bumps in the face and forehead, burn marks in cheeks and jaws as a result of being forcefully controlled by the staffs. Another one claimed that a patient ruptured a toe and was then only checked after a month of the incident. Same patient, who turned 18, was secluded in a room away from the other patient and wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone for about 2 months, when clearly the facility doesn’t have a license to house adults.

There is other one who suffered severe stomach problem that required a specialist but instead given only diet foods prepared in the facility. The child was 105 pound when arriving but went down to 64 pounds, the mother immediately took the child and brought to the hospital and accordingly the organs were two days away from ceasing.

Furthermore, it was found out that Mendoza is administering sedatives to children even not needed and without parental consent. Thus, the investigation concluded that due to these circumstances Mendoza aggravated the emotional suffering and caused unjustifiable pain to the patients.
